I’m not sure why it took me until my late 30s to realize my lips were going to age and needed special care. I have never smoked a day in my life! I do enjoy drinking from a straw occasionally. So, who knew that after years of drinking from straws and just aging in general, that our lips would needs some TLC? Here’s what I have been using and loving. Also, keep in mind I like to find clean or as close to clean products as possible.
Lip Scrub
The first step to lip care for aging lips would be making sure you exfoliate. Some people will just use their toothbrushes as they brush their teeth (I just couldn’t get behind this one) and other people will use their face razors (I would definitely mess this up). What I love to use is the Burt’s Bees Conditioning Lip Scrub. Make sure you purchase the one with honey crystals in it and NOT the one with coffee in it. Just trust me! This comes in under $10 and is very effective.
overnight Lip Treatment
The next thing I use every single day is the Burt’s Bees Overnight Intensive Lip Treatment. Now, even though this says overnight, I definitely use it day and night! I typically will use the lip scrub in the morning and will apply this lip conditioner and then apply lip conditioner again overnight. Under $10.
Treating Fine Lines
You are about to think this is a commercial for Burt’s Bees, but it isn’t! It is just that when I was on the search for lip care for aging lips that was also clean, these were the clear winners. The good news is that they all work fantastically! Now, I am about to share with you my hands down favorite and secret weapon to wearing lipstick again. It is the Burt’s Bees Renewing Lip Treatment. This stuff is AMAZING and also under $10. I keep this in my purse and apply it generously during the day. If I plan on wearing any type of color I first apply this and my color does not seep into the lines of my lips. I love that this lip treatment works at correcting the lines while it hydrates. The Renewing Lip Treatment uses a safer form or Retinol as well as Ceramides that fight wrinkles and fine lines! If you only buy one thing for your lips, let it be this!
