I will be the first to admit that I am NOT a morning person. I don’t love to wake up and I would much rather stay snuggled up in my warm covers most mornings. My youngest son can relate and for that I am thankful! The worst part of waking up for me is the alarm. I hate the sound of it, it jolts me, I dread it, I could live without it. However, the reality is that I HAVE to have an alarm in order to wake up. Not all of us are natured like our parents who are awake with the sun… or are we?
Enter Philips Wake-up Light. At first I thought, how is a light going to actually wake me up? I was nervous that I would somehow miss my alarm/light so I went ahead and set my old phone alarm as well. However, what I have learned over the past month using this Wake-up Light is that I actually wake up feeling more energetic and happier all together.
The Philips Wake-up Light starts out by emitting a sunrise-like glow starting 30 minutes before your wake-up time. The light gradually gets brighter as it nears your alarm time and uses all different sorts of hues that mimic the sunrise (it is actually really nice). All of this can be controlled in the settings (the brightness). Mind you, this took some tweaking as I am NOT a fan of the super bright light. There is also an audible alarm that is quite pleasant if you want to have both options. I am going for both right now just to be on the safe side. I was so surprised how well the light itself work me up and then I was even more surprised at how much easier it was to get up. I no longer felt groggy or startled.
For those of you who still like to have a radio, there is still an FM radio option. I personally like the tap to snooze. The entire face of the clock is “touch sensitive” and is how you control the menu. So, when you want to snooze you just tap on the front of the clock and you are good to go! The on and off buttons for alarms and lights are also located along the top.
Overall, this alarm clock is super smart and definitely has been a great addition. Keep in mind that the price tag is high so you may need to weight that out when considering purchasing.

This is the kind of alarm clock that would be beneficial to me. I work night shift and don’t sleep right anyway so I could see benefit in owning this.
