Before Graham started school, there was the love for the squeezable applesauces you can pick up in just about any grocery store. They are convenient and my kids find them tasty. The only problem I have with them is I felt like we were completely throwing away money every single time one of my kids slurped one of those things up in 2.5 seconds flat! The best deal I have found is 5 for $5 and that is just pricey! Every fall we love to pick fresh apples from the orchard and I generally have a huge helping of fresh, homemade applesauce that the boys devour. So, I have been on the look out for a reusable food pouch that would allow me to give them that homemade goodness, but in the convenient packaging.
I am so thankful for my friend Kate from The Shopping Mama who introduced me to these gems via Facebook! Have you seen Little Green Pouch? It is seriously my new lunch time best friend! It will easily save me at least $20 in two weeks.
Here’s how it works:
- Take the cap off the end of the Little Green Pouch and blow into it in order to inflate the bag
- Open the zippered top and fill with your favorite squishy food
- Re-seal the top, add the cap and place in the fridge or lunch box
- Gobble it up by squeezing out all the yummy goodness!
- Once you are done, pop it on the top rack of the dishwasher opened up and run on a normal wash cycle. Easy!
Seriously, it couldn’t get any easier to save money as well as serve your own homemade purees. I wish I had these when the boys were babies. This would make an excellent way to take your homemade baby food purees along with you for the day. I also love that these are great for just about any age. My toddler appreciates the Little Green Pouch as much as my five year old.
Purchase a 4 pack of Little Green Pouches for only $14.99. There are also extras you can purchase in order to enhance the product. The dispensing pitcher came in handy to speed up the filling process for my homemade applesauce. I also really like the dissolvable content and date labels if you have a child in a daycare situation.
Wondering what to fill your Little Green Pouch with? Well, you can buy the economy size jars of applesauce from the grocery store and save big or even fill with your favorite yogurt! I purchase the large containers and fill these up with a spoon. Want a delicious and easy recipe for your Little Green Pouch? Here’s one the boys love!

Oh good – ive been hoping someone would make something like this! My son only eats fruit if it comes in a pouch.

I know!! I was so thrilled when I found these things for that very reason!

Yay! I’m so glad you like the Little Green Pouch – it’s just so smart. And will totally be making some crock pot applesauce for my applesauce pouch loving 6 year old!

Yes!! I feel like I’ve hit the jackpot! So many people on Facebook were asking where I got those things when they saw that picture of Davis. Sanity saver!

About how long does your sauce last in the fridge?
Felicia says
With two boys in the house it is never in the fridge any longer than a week! I would say about 2 weeks if you have it in the bags… longer if you had it in something like a mason jar.
