You all know my take on shoes for children. In my opinion, this is not the place to skimp. Your children’s feet are growing which means that they need shoes to accomodate their special needs. Toddlers are learning to walk and need a shoe that will work well with their learning curve. On top of all of that it is a bonus if the shoe is also adorable. Well, there is a new toddler shoe in town and I am loving it! Zooligans not only has all of the aspects of a safe toddler shoe, but they also come in ten different adorable critters.
We were sent the Jacques the Gator shoe for Davis to try out. I have to tell you I had a really hard time deciding which shoe to choose because they are all precious. Davis has very long and skinny feet so it is hard to find a shoe that fits completely secure for him. We generally have to go up in size and realize that the shoe will be wide on his foot. This was the case for the Zooligans shoe so the pictures I have will show that the strap is not very secure on his ankle. With that said, the shoes still stay on well and Davis enjoys wearing them
Here’s what we love:
- Flexible and sturdy sole (Paw-Flex). This is probably my favorite feature. You can literally take the shoe in your hand and bend it in half. On the flip side, I feel like the sole is so sturdy that Davis can play outside on the rocks or other rough surfaces with these shoes holding up. The bottom also looks like a paw which is adorable and is a great bonus.
- Easy on and off. Davis is only 21 months and can put these shoes on and off on his own. He can’t quite get the Velcro closure, but that is mostly because they are not super tight on him. If you are a parent to a toddler you can appreciate a shoe that is no fuss to put on.
- Leather Upper. The flexible leather upper is not only adorable with different animal characters, but it is also breathable.
- Large Toe Box. Another important factor to growing toddler feet is that they have plenty of room in the toe box. The Zooligans provide ample room even for “baby long toes” as he is affectionately called be a few friends of ours.
