When Graham was very tiny we started attending a weekly baby and toddler time at our local library. Never before had I been so interested in books for children. All of a sudden I was immersed in this sea of goodness that made me smile! One of our favorites was definitely The Very Hungry Caterpillar. I’ll never forget the day the librarian read this one to our group. All of the kids were transfixed on the book and on what was going to happen next. I have to be honest, the book still makes me want to eat a fruit salad by the time we are done.
Now that Davis is here and the age where he is enjoying all types of books, we love sharing this one with him as well. It is fun to see how each child likes different portions of different books. Davis is definitely interested in counting and the colors. Truly, anything Eric Carle is a favorite in our home.
So, it is with great pleasure that I help celebrate the 45th Anniversary of The Very Hungry Caterpillar with 45 other bloggers. Today I want to offer one of my readers the opportunity to win a very special prize to celebrate along with us!

I can remember The Very Hungry Caterpillar being read to me in the library at my school. The next week, I took out the book for a week. When I returned it, I asked if I could take it out again. My librarian told me I had to give other kids a chance. But the other kids had forgot about it at that point. I took it out every week until school was over. I was obsessed with it. I love eric carle. I love that he uses so much color and unique painting styles. I would love for my kids to have this book. And the tote would be amazing to have.
