I cared for my skin from the inside out with Aveeno® Active Naturals as part of a sponsored post for Socialstars #Aveeno
“Mom, you didn’t snuggle.”
I hear these four little words uttered from my four year old’s mouth and I am instantly reminded that there will likely be a day when he no longer asks me to be close or to hold him. My 7 year old is already starting to show signs of this (even though I am still cool to be around). So, on the nights when I am exhausted and ready to crash in my bed or the nights when I know I need to stay up and work and time is quickly fleeting, I may try to sneak out of his room quicker than normal. Yes, we read, we say our prayers, I give a hug and a kiss and then I try to sneak out the door. Some nights he is so exhausted that it doesn’t matter but I always find myself wishing I wasn’t in such a rush. I find myself missing the moment after the moment has passed. I find myself picturing that little boy as a teenager who will no longer be snuggling with his mom. Then, I picture him as a tiny baby and all of those moments I cherished rocking him to sleep.
I’ve decided that snuggling can’t wait. I’ve decided that snuggling isn’t spoiling my child or delaying going to bed. I’ve decided that snuggling is something that bonds us closer together and brings up discussions that may not have happened during the day. I’ve decided that snuggling is worth my time no matter how busy or tired I may think I am.
Even though my sweet seven year old doesn’t really “snuggle” anymore, he begs me to stay and talk for a moment. This is where I’ve learned about troubles with friends, heartaches about lost loved ones, what he is learning and his dreams for the future. This is the time I cherish and truly long for all day long. One such conversation started with this comment:
“Mmm. You smell so good, buddy! Why do you have such soft skin?”
“Well, I did use that new soap you put in the shower. That Aveen… something another. It has blue writing on the bottle.”
“Aveeno?”
“That’s it! Did you know it has oat in it?”
From there my little detailed boy went into all the facts behind why he thought oat made his skin so smooth and asked me why it said “natural” and did that have something to do with nature. All of this lead to a discussion about why what we put on our body is just as important as what we put in it. I love his questions and I love that he is already thinking about these types of issues. I also love the discussion that happened the next night:
“Mom, feel my skin. I used that Aveeno® body wash with oat in it! Is my skin soft?”
I could have gobbled him up right then and there! I don’t want to miss these simple and sweet moments. I think embracing the night time routine has actually made it a little easier for us. I cherish the bath time moments and how those sweet little heads smell when they are clean. I love their soft skin that reminds me of when they were babies so I’ll keep on reaching for the Aveeno® Baby Wash and Shampoo as long as they will use it and I’ll keep on snuggling just as long as they will let me.
Awww, so sweet. I have been using Aveeno products for years and have always been so happy with them.
Your son sounds super cute! I have used Aveeno products for a long time and they really are the best! My skin feels sooo soft after using them!
Such a sweet mommy post! Snuggling right after your kid has had a tub is just perfection
I always try to find time to snuggle. I live for that.
Aww, your son is so cute! My son is two and hardly loves to snuggle as his rambunctious age.
I love snuggling my little ones! I can’t wait to meet my little girl and snuggle her cuteness!
When my Daughter was young, she had such sensitive skin, but Aveeno was one thing we could use.
I love this post so much. SNuggling with a clean kid is the best.
First I wanna say I love the kiddie shower curtains too cute! I love Aveeno a great brand!!
I miss when my kids were young enough to want to snuggle! They still use Aveeno, but they’re way past the cuddly stage.
This sounds like a great baby wash. I’m a long time user of Aveeno products but I’ve never tried this!
So sweet and so very true! My oldest is getting to that stage where he doesn’t want snuggles much any more.
I miss the snuggle time with my son. That sounds like a great baby wash and shampoo.
Snuggles are one of the most incredible parts to being a parent. The snuggles are one of my all time faves!
My kids are teenagers now and do not want to snuggle lol. I miss when they were still little. Aveeno is a great product. It leaves my skin so soft.
I miss snuggle days. My girls are older now and don’t think it’s cool to snuggle with mom so much. Every now and then though, I can get a little snuggle from my 11 year old and it takes me back to those days when they were so freely given.
I had the same moment yesterday. After getting a mountain of laundry done, I wanted to go fold it and put it away but I snuggled with my 3 year old instead. I can fold laundry any time. He is only 3 once.
Aveeno has excellent products – we have used them for years. I sure to miss the snuggling with my kids. Now that they are grown.
Awww.. adorable pics. I love Aveeno. I buy it when I can catch it on sale. It is one of few products that actually work on my dry, chapped, Michigan-winter skin without causing me to break out in a rash. So, I know their products must be good for kids too.
Kiddo is 10, and I am thankful that she is so loving and huggable. She still loves to snuggle.
Awwwww! That is so sweet. I will have to get ome of that body wash for Declan.
You’re right– snuggling can’t wait. Better lotion up 🙂
I love Aveeno products, especially their lotions. I bet the shampoo is great too.
Amen and Amen. I love the snuggling and it is so much better when those boys are clean. 🙂
I am sad that the years are dwindling. . .
