Just two weeks ago I shared with you all how I was gearing up for back to school lunches. I was trying to get ahead of the game a little bit and make life more simple for when the back to school rush happened. Well, we are on day one of school TODAY! That’s right, my little second grader is now a BIG third grader. I can’t even believe it! When people tell you not to blink they are so serious. In a way, I am super excited for him today. Third grade was, hands down, my favorite year in elementary school. I had an awesome teacher and it was when I really started to discover who I was and what my interests were. I can only pray that Graham will learn the same about himself this year.
Ok, moving on from the sappy before I start to cry and onto the lunchy because, well, that’s why we are all here reading today, right? Remember how I told you there would at least be a week of super awesome lunches that included a fruit, vegetable and protein and maybe even a note or some creative twist. Well, day one was a success. Let’s see if I can keep this up for 4 more days.
Here’s What You Need for this SUPER Simple and Creative Lunch Box Idea…
- one half of a bagel
- cream cheese
- a dab of jelly (for the smile)
- two blueberries (for the eyes)
- one large carrot cut into small sticks (save two slivers for eyebrows)
- a handful of grapes
- One leaf of lettuce for color (because unless your kids are super lovers of green, it will be trashed)
- a handful of Pepperidge Farm® Goldfish Crackers
- one Wet Ones® wipe for the messy little hands and killing 99.9% of those school germs!
There you go! You have a colorful lunch box that also has a creative spin to it. It also didn’t take you twelve hours to carve out the perfect little chipmunk shaped sandwich (yes, I’ve done that before… only once). I even included an acorn. Oh, I was a cool mom, but who can live up to that every single day! Not this mama.
Ok guys, what’s in your kids’ lunch boxes today? I want to hear it! No shame if you just sent them with $2.50 (because that’s us next week).
