There is a very exciting national holiday upon us. Oh yes, super exciting! We are celebrating Pie! Oh wait, we are not celebrating the delicious treat that millions of Americans love to consume? It’s in fact a math function we are celebrating? Ah. Let’s have PIE anyway. Any excuse right?
Seriously, March 14 is National Pi Day. A day that was set aside by Larry Shaw (a psychiatrist) back in 1988. The US House of Representatives supported the designated day back in 2009. Because Pi stands for the number 3.142, it only makes sense that it would be celebrated on 3/14. I can definitely remember using the symbol in math back in the day, but I couldn’t even begin to work a problem for you!
If you are looking for a quick and easy way to celebrate Pi Day with your kids all you need is a Marie Callender’s Mini Pie, a microwave and some quick icing in a can!
We had a few of these Marie Callender’s Coconut Cream Pies in the freezer. They are super easy to have ready. No thawing, no cooking. Just pop them out of the box, take off the lid and warm them in the microwave for about 15-20 seconds. Next, take out your favorite color icing and pipe on a Pi symbol to get festive! You guys have heard me say before and I will say it again, the Marie Callender’s pies are really good. Of course, nothing beats a homemade pie, but these are great for a quick solution.
This will save you time to create a few fun crafts and activities with your kids.

Write a pi-ku: a three-line poem with three syllables in the first line, one in the second, and four in the third.
So, how will you celebrate? Certainly with pie! If you are on a mission for the Marie Callender’s may I suggest the Coconut Cream Mini Pie! Oh dear, it is good! And it definitely lasts for more than 3.142 bites…
Now in honor of Pi Day and Marie Callender’s Mini Pies, one lucky reader will win 5 coupons for FREE pies! Here’s how:
