Meet the teacher day is right around the corner for us. I know that for so many of you your kids have already started back *tear*. I always struggle with what to do on this day. Last year I had a kindergartner so I was more focused on him and making sure he had all he needed. I am feeling a little more prepared this year and thinking that maybe a sweet gift for his new teacher may be nice on the very first meet the teacher day (if I can remember it).
I’m not sure if you have heard about the legislation happening in NC to our teachers. It is not good and is really adding stress to the already stressed and overworked teachers. The least I could do is offer up a small gesture of “thanks for being you and working around the clock” for Graham’s new teacher. But, what should we do? Well, working as a counselor in the system myself I know how much I rely upon coffee to keep me going. I also rely upon my International Delight creamer to keep things exciting! So, when I was presented with this fun campaign spreading the word about the new Cold Stone Creamery™ ice cream flavors that are now available in your trusted International Delight creamers, I was thrilled and my idea was inspired!
While all the flavors sound amazing, I was instantly drawn to the Cold Stone Creamery™ Founder’s Favorite™ flavor. Who could resist a little brownie sundae in their coffee?! With that said, I thought it would be fun to create our own ice cream sundae of sorts to hold gifts or needed supplies for our new teacher. It turned out cute and is very simple. I even made free printables to go on the outside of the cup!
Materials Needed:
- 1 large plastic sup
- 2 sheets of tissue paper
- hot glue gun
- free printable tags
- String or fishing wire
- scissors
- red ribbon or string
- plastic spoon
Instructions:
- Place whatever gift you would like inside the cup.
- Cut your two sheets of tissue paper in half long ways.
- Follow these instructions on how to create paper pom poms for each of the two sets of tissue paper. Make sure to cut the edges rounded.
- Place the first pom pom inside the cup and fold over the rim.
- Place the second pom pom inside the first and pull half of it down and the other half up while twisting to a point (make it look like an ice cream scoop).
- Wrap the red ribbon around your index finger making sure to rotate it in order to create a round ball (cherry).
- Hot glue the ribbon together and then hot glue the ribbon to the top of the “ice cream”.
- Stick a plastic spoon down underneath the pom poms and let it stick out the side.
- Hot glue the printed tag to the outside of the cup.
Now you are all set for a cute meet the teacher gift idea that didn’t take all day and doesn’t cost and arm and a leg! Hey, why not include a Cold Stone Creamery gift card? I know I would love it.
