I predict that today is going to be a big day for major retailers who are selling The Lion King Diamond Edition. When The Lion King first hit theaters I remember what a huge hit it was. I was in high school and remembered loving it even then. The themes are relevant across all age levels and the characters are timeless. Graham’s favorite song is the opening “Circle of Life” song, the only thing is he only sings the words you can’t understand over and over and over. It is cute to listen to him try to figure out exactly what is being said at the beginning of that song. You all know what I am talking about… “Ahhhhhh Cha Ne Wa….” or something like that! Well here’s what I could find on the meaning and what the lyrics actually are, but it is Swahili:
“Nants’ ingonyama bagithi baba (Here comes a lion, father)
Sithi uhhmm ingonyama (Oh yes, it’s a lion)
Ingonyama (lion)
Nants’ ingonyama bagithi baba (Here comes a lion, father)
Sithi uhhmm ingonyama (Oh yes, it’s a lion)
Ingonyama (lion)
Siyo nqoba (We’re going to conquer)
Ingonyama (lion)
Ingonyama nengw’ enamabala (A lion and a tiger come to this open place)”
And now you know!
Today, you can begin to purchase The Lion King Diamond Edition on Blu-ray, DVD and 8-Disc Trilogy at local retailers. The Blu-ray features high definition picture and sound so that you can experience the movie like never before.
As always, Disney has also added several different bonus materials which include:
4 Never-Before-Seen Deleted Scenes
Deleted Song
The Morning Report: Extended scene
Never-Before-Seen Bloopers
Disney Second Screen (iPad and Computer capabilities)
Pride of The Lion King
The Lion King: A Memoir- Don Hahn
Disney Sing Along Mode
Interactive Gallery
Audio Commentary
Disney’s Virtual Vault
One of our families favorite bonus features is the Disney Sing Along Mode. It basically turns your movie into Karaoke! When you select this mode the lyrics show up on the screen so that you can sing along to your favorite songs. We also enjoy watching the bloopers that were created by the animators. It really goes to show the heart that the developers put into a movie (and makes us laugh).
Here’s the price break down:
2-Disc Blu-ray/DVD = $39.99
4-Disc Blu-ray 3D/Blu-ray 2D/DVD/Digital = $49.99
8-Disc Trilogy = $100
The one disc DVD edition will be available November 15th. But, like I always say, it is well worth your money to purchase at least the 2-Disc. Everything is headed in the Blu-ray direction and you don’t want your DVD to be obsolete in just a few years.
This product was provided free of charge by Disney. These are my honest opinions on the product. I do not post reviews on products I can not stand behind. Please see my Terms of Use for more info.
