If you follow me over on Instagram, you can watch the Reel that takes you through the entire process of how to dermaplane on video. Here it is below or follow the link: How to Dermaplane.
But first, you may be asking, “why do I need to shave my face?”. Well, the reality is that no one “needs” to do it, it is more of a preference. I LOVE to dermaplane because it helps to remove dead skin cells making your face softer and smoother. It also helps your skincare absorb more easily and your makeup apply flawlessly! It is just overall a great thing for your face!
FAQs
Here are a few commonly asked questions about dermaplaning:
- Will my facial hair grow back dark and course? No! If you had course, dark hair then it will grow back course and dark. If you had light, baby fine hairs… that is what will grow back!
- Can I shave my entire face? Yes! Just follow the tips below and apply those to your entire face. Don’t forget to watch my video over on Instagram if you are a visual learner.
HOW TO DERMPLANE AT HOME
- Start with a clean, dry face. I do not apply any serums or moisturizers. I feel like this could clog pores and introduce more bacteria to your face.
- Using a facial razor (my personal favorite are the Schick Hydro Silk), you want to use short and slow motions going in the direction of the hair growth versus against it. Hold the razor at an angle versus straight on your face. Make sure to pay attention to areas around your mouth and hold your skin taut as you go.
- Once you are finished apply a gentle moisturizer. I love the LilyAna Naturals Retinol Cream because it discourages breakouts and fights signs of aging.
That’s it! I truly was afraid to attempt this on my own for many years. I finally decided what was the worst that could happen? Now I generally dermaplane about once a week after a shower. What questions do you have? I would love to answer them!
