A few weeks back someone on Instagram asked me about how I created natural contour. I have to admit, everything I do is very simple. I often only have minutes to get ready in the morning so it has to be quick in order for any makeup routine to stick! If you want to see this in video form you can head to my highlights on Instagram. I even have a quick Reel filmed you can check out. See below for how to create natural contour quickly!
Step 1:
After you have applied your primer and your foundation or CC Cream (you don’t even have to do this) you can start with your contour. I love to use cream products. You can find all of my favorites linked at the end of this post. Start with a brush that is pretty firm and stamp or press the bronzer into your skin right below your cheek bone. Having trouble finding where your cheek bone is? Suck in your cheeks like a fish and you will see them! The key is to keep everything towards your hairline and no further than your pupil.
step 2:
If you have a larger forehead, you may want to add a bit of contour there. I like to start about 3/4 of the way from my eye brow up towards my hair line. Press it into your skin and blend it upwards. Don’t worry, we are going to blend everything in all at once when we are done!
step 3:
Move to your jawline and press the bronzer underneath and blend down your neck.
Step 4:
Here is my quick trick for contouring your nose. This is often one of the hardest areas for people to contour. If you add a little bronzer to your pinky fingers and place them on top of your nose and pull down, you are going to get the best placement of your contour. It will be simple and you will be shocked! Make sure you start at the top of your nose and got all the way to the tip.
step 5:
Add your highlight! I love using a highlight or concealer stick to keep it simple. The key here is to use a color that is just SLIGHTLY lighter than your skin color. You are going to add this everywhere the sun would hit (center of forehead, center of nose, tip of chin, and a little at the inner and outer corner of your eyes to brighten).
step 6:
Blend! This is my favorite part! Take a large fluffy brush and lightly blend out all of your contouring. The key is to use a light hand so that you do not blend away everything you just did. You can then add blush just slightly above where your contour is on your cheek bones. Blend that out as well.
What are your thoughts? Do you already contour? I would love to know if you give this a try. The more your practice the quicker it becomes and soon it will be a part of your everyday routine.
