Don’t Let Safety Get Lost in the Shuffle #KEYPledge

December 20, 2013 by Felicia

We are in the final countdown and Christmas will be here before we know it.  It seems like many of us are busy getting the last minute stocking stuffers and tying up loose ends.  There are parties to attend, cards to write and things to bake.  I get it.  It can become overwhelming.

Don’t let safety get lost in the shuffle.

With everything going on around, it can be easy to become forgetful and leave things lying around that should be placed far out of reach and sight. Serious harm & injury including accidental ingestion and eye exposure can occur if single-load liquid laundry packets are not safely stored.

YOU can PREVENT these accidents from happening!

Laundry packets should be treated just like any other cleaning product and be stored in a location that is high and far out of the reach and sight of young children.  It is just as important to remember to put the laundry packet container or pouch immediately away as soon as you come home from the store and after each use.

key pledge

Make sure to take the KEY Pledge as well as share with friends and family members about the importance of safety especially this time of year.  Through the KEY Pledge Campaign, the ACI is encouraging you to follow simple safety steps to ensure a safe laundry routine:

  • Keep single-load liquid laundry packets out of reach of children

  • Educate your family and friends about the safe use and storage of these new laundry products

  • You serve a key role in laundry safety

Tune in to these important safety videos from Kimberlee Mitchell that offer smart tips and ideas in order to keep you and your family members safe this holiday season!  Make sure to take some time to review and take the KEY Pledge as well as share it with friends and family members.

This post is part of a sponsored campaign with ACI.  Please see my terms of use for more info.

Even though my kids are older all my cleaning and laundry supplies are put away and out of their reach. I don’t take any chances when it comes to my kids.

Yes you can never be to safe! Especially with my girls. They amaze me sometimes. If it’s not locked up or attached to the ceiling they will find a way to get it!

Great reminders and tips. Those little pods are so handy…it’s just important that we remember to keep them out of reach of our kiddos!

A great reminder! I hide literally everything when I know my nephew is coming over because that little guy thinks everything is a toy or snack!

The best defense is a good example. My mom always kept those supplies in a cabinet, up high. Now, I do the same thing so that chemicals, etc don’t pose a danger. We also have a baby gate in front of the laundry room, too.

These are great tips. You can never really be too careful when it comes to chemicals in your house with children. Life is so hectic these days that its so hard to have your eyes on them for every single second. Safer better than sorry.

I am so glad you brought this up. We do get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the holidays. I do love using those laundry pods, but am extra careful about storing them.

Our laundry room has a door and the washer has that lock button in it too so when kids press any button, it won’t turn on.
