I spend a lot of time in front of a computer or a screen either during the day or even at the house. A recent trend you may have seen is that of wearing blue light blocking glasses. Well, seeing as how I worry about everything… ok, not everything, but I am genuinely concerned about bettering my health and my mother suffers from macular degeneration. So, I wanted to try a pair for myself to see if it was worth the money.
As you guys know, I am never going to share anything here that I do not believe to be worth it. So, I purchased a pair of LifeArt Blue Light Blocking Glasses with zero magnification from Amazon about a month ago that seemed to be about low to mid-range on the price. I put them on and noticed an immediate difference in the strain on my eyes. I experimented with them at home just looking at Instagram on my phone for a night. I then took them to work for use on the computer.
So, do they work?
Yes! After a month of use I can tell you that I have had moments when I have forgotten to wear them and I look up from the screen and see dots. You know the dots you get when your eyes are trying to adjust from the sun or from staring directly at a screen all day? I have had less headaches and my eyes feel less tired.
If you do your research you will see that there are varying opinions on if any of this actually helps. Some eye doctors say that there are no adverse effects of computer and phone screens, but I still have to go with what my dear old Nanny used to always say… move back from that screen or you are going to go blind!
Am I going blind?
Now, while I don’t think using your computer without blue light blocking glasses is going to cause blindness, I do believe that they are making a difference. I may still need real glasses when it is all said and done, but for now I am able to walk away from a computer without rubbing my burning eyes!
If you want to purchase the same ones I have you can find them on Amazon for about $20 with Prime shipping. I got the color La_Nola and think they are adorable. One of my students said I am Sam Smart’s twin… hmmm. It’s the first time I’ve been compared to a cartoon character! 🙂
I need to get a pair of these. My work keeps me on the computer and/or my phone all the time, and I can feel it in my poor eyes.
They really make a difference! I needed some time to get used to them but now I can’t be without them.
Sounds like I should also get a pair. With all the long hours in front of the computer, it surely will protect my eyes. Thanks for sharing.
I’ve been trying to decide if I was going to get these. I’m literally looking at a screen for at least 15 hours a day.
Such an interesting read, I will definitely be getting myself a pair!
I also think I now need a pair of these glasses. I’m in front of my computer more than 8 hours a day. :0(
Interesting read, I did not know these exited. I am always on my laptop 24/7 and if this might help just a tad I might just have to invest on one.
I have never heard of these before but def something to look into
I haven’t heard of blue light glasses until now! I could really use these; I’m so glad I found your blog!
I need to upgrade my glasses to those. It seems so cool! Nice.
This is very interesting, thank you for sharing. I have heard of the blue light glasses and was wondering how they worked. I am on the computer a lot and could see the benefit from these.
That sounds like a great pair of glasses! Would love to check it out.
I would like to think they work! Blue light can be very tough on the eyes!
They look comfy too! I bet I could really benefit from these, my eyes hurt a lot!
These glasses look absolutely adorable on you. And honestly, I’ve been in the market for a pair like these. $20 sounds like a steal!
