Back to School For Less For Mom: thredUp + $10 to spend!

August 25, 2014 by Felicia

disclosure graphicA few weeks ago I received the cutest polka dot box in the mail.  It was full of several fun finds I picked up from thredUp.  If you remember and shopped the very first thredUp website then you really owe it to yourself to head back over there and check out everything they have done to make it even nicer.  I have to say that it was truly a joy to shop and I was surprised at just how many great finds there were at excellent prices.

When it comes to back to school shopping for me (I work as a school counselor) I truly hate it.  Here’s the deal, I don’t like to spend money and I want to make sure I buy versatile items so that I can pair them accordingly in order to stretch out my wardrobe.  What that means for me is that there is usually no money left over for the fun splurge items.  You know, we all have a few of those items we see that just do not seem practical but we really want.  So, when thredUp contacted me about checking out the website and seeing what I could find, I was thrilled at the outcome!

thredUp has all of the brands that I love like: LOFT, Banana Republic, Gap and Free People.  When I did a quick comparison, the prices were significantly less than the stores.  thredUp says that their clothes will always be up to 90% off the original price which makes me happy.  What I also noticed is that their prices are even better than some of my favorite boutique consignment stores.  Win/Win!

For $100 I purchased: 1 Banana Republic blouse, 1 LOFT dress jacket, 1 LOFT blouse, 1 Banana Republic 3/4 sleeve shirt, 1 LOFT cocktail dress, and 1 black peacoat from LOFT.  That’s a lot of stuff for $100!  The best news is that it all fit because I knew what size I wore in those brands of clothing.

Get $10 to Spend on Your First Purchase!

Guess what?  I have a secret.  Well, it’s not really a secret, but it is super awesome!  I have $10 for you to spend on your first purchase from thredUp!  Woot woot!  All you have to do is click on this link and start shopping: thredUp

I promise you will find at least one thing you love (price and look).  You can also sign up for free shipping through the 2014 year for a one time fee of $19.99.  If you find that you love what you see this might be a good deal to check into.  Are you ready to get rid of a few of your great clothes?  Well, you can order a thredUp bag and make money off of them by sending them in!  This is just another great way to save yourself a little cash on new to you clothes.

That sounds like a neat service. I rarely buy clothes online because some brands fit funny, but that was smart of you to get brands you already knew.

I love this and have heard a lot about ThredUp. I wanted to try it, but being plus sized I worry that it will be harder for me to find clothes.

That $100 really did go a long way. You can’t walk out of Banana Republic with an item for under $100 most days.

I don’t typically buy my clothes online. I never know how something is going to fit. I like how this service has brands we know which would make it easier to order online. The great selection of clothes is nice.
