Where I work there are only a few options if you happen to have a spare second to go out and get food to bring back (which happens almost never). We have a chain fast food stop, local asian food, local pizza, local mexican food and a SUBWAY. While the local options are great, they also take time. Time we do not have when you have about 2.5 seconds to grab food and get back to work. So, I generally go with SUBWAY because it is fast and fresh.
Here is where I admit how boring I really am. I always eat the SAME thing from SUBWAY. Every. Single. Time. My go to sandwich is a turkey on whole wheat with provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, light mayo, mustard, oil and vinegar. That’s just what I’ve always done and it works so why mess with it? Well, I was recently sent a SUBWAY gift card for the sole purpose of trying out the new Tuscan Chicken Melt. I can tell you I was hesitantly excited about trying something new.
My verdit? Good. The only thing I would warn you of is that if you are hoping for a pile of chicken on your sandwich you are just not going to get it. You may want to ask for a double serving of the chicken because I think the are pre-portioned and it was not enough for me. However, the flavor of it all was quite good. I could still add my regular toppings and the chicken had a great zing of spice (still wish there was more of it). Keep in mind that if you do add more chicken you are going to change the nutritional content. The SUBWAY Tuscan Chicken Melt only has 380 calories and 8 grams of fat if you get a 6″ sandwich with 9-grain wheat bread.
Overall, I think you should give it a try before it is gone. There are still 8 days left!
