Serving Up Memories and Giggles with Fisher-Price’s Servin’ Surprises Kitchen & Table

“Mo-om, What’s for dinner?!” Oh those three little words can often send a shudder up my back–what am I going to make and how will I occupy the kids while I’m prepping dinner?!  These days, though, the tables are turned I am the one asking that question to my girls. While we might not be eating edible food, we are having a lot more fun playing chef in Fisher Price’s new Servin’ Surprises Kitchen & Table set.

We were recently sent a kids’ kitchen to review at a playgroup party. As you can tell from the pictures, six kids aged one to four immediately swarmed the table, the food, and the accessories.

I was instantly impressed that kids of all ages found this kitchen appealing. My 1-year old daughter could stand at the table and open and close the stove and press buttons–she loved that there was a cause and effect and I loved that it helps promote her reasoning skills. My two and four year old daughters, meanwhile, started making pizza, stirring pasta, and exploring the ice cream set with their friends.

They were quite obsessed with pushing the music buttons on the “magic” serving tray. Catchy tunes that encouraged my girls to clean up their plate and use “please” and “thank you” floated through the air and, before long, we were singing them to each other. In fact, I now use those jingles to remind my girls quickly about their manners and to help–it’s a ingeniously fun way to accomplish mundane kitchen tasks! Speaking of cleanup, all the place settings and food pieces store right inside the table when they’re done! Hands down, that’s my favorite aspect of the Servin Surprises Kitchen & Table.

The kids were all in giggles when the “magic” serving tray recognized the food they set atop it. Different phrases like “Who wants pizza?” or “Mmmm, cookies!” were announced at the press of a button. The basic kitchen set comes complete with a convertible stovetop (it switches around to be a flat part of the table), removable oven and “magic” serving tray, 4 slices of pizza with toppings & pizza cutter, 4 cookies with cookie sheet, 2 place settings: forks, spoons, cups & plates. It does require 6 AA batteries but we’ve been using this kitchen solidly for a month and have yet to replace them.

Fisher Price also generously sent us one of their add-on food sets. We received the Servin Surprises ice cream party set which was the perfect choice for my girls–ice cream is by far their favorite food! Everyone loved serving each other different combinations of ice cream cones–from mint chocolate chip with soft serve topping to raspberry sorbet with orange icing, the creative play is practically unlimited.

Ice Cream time!

While Fisher Price’s newest kitchen entertained the kids at the party for a solid hour, they started to get a little restless after a while. That’s when we shocked them by converting their magic kitchen into a table for arts and crafts. It was supremely easy for all the children at the party to flip the kitchen into a table and they managed to stick nearly every accessory and food item back into the center console–so impressive!

Table Changeover

And then they spread out and got to work with coloring and crafting. The other moms and I at the party were simply amazed by how easy and wonderful this kids kitchen/kids table really was.

coloring time!

As a mom to kids of multiple ages who hosts playgroups all the time, I cannot rave enough about the Fisher Price Servin Surprises Kitchen and Table. Imaginations will soar whether they’re cooking or coloring and memories will be made amidst the giggles and laughter. Currently the table is drastically on sale at various retailers–it would make a great gift to store away for a birthday or Christmas!
