Giving back this Christmas season is important to me and so many of our friends and families. You all may have heard about and participated in Giving Tuesday just a few weeks ago. The reality is that there is never just one day for giving back, it should be a commitment of our heart and giving selflessly should be on the forefront of our minds.
GlobalGiving is another way you can give back and do so for many different countries all from your home. Maybe you can’t physically get out and volunteer. GlobalGiving would be a great place to start. There is even an option to purchase gift cards for loved ones this Christmas season so that they can choose the program that speaks to them the most. I personally like that you can narrow it down to a project right in your home state.
I decided to support a cause called ChangeEducate. This is a program I can support for many reasons. First of all, it is all about educating high school students on poverty and sustainable ways to help fight it. This goes beyond volunteering and points to a place of understanding and educating. It is a program that was created by students at Duke University and would be a welcomed addition at the high school I work in. This project is also from my home state. What a wonderful opportunity to support something that will keep on giving. As they old saying goes, “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.”
So, I encourage you, as you are shopping this season, to consider a gift that will keep giving back for years to come. Maybe find an inspiring project to get behind that speaks to your heart or to a loved one of yours. If you do decide to purchase I would encourage you to do so through the links listed above. Your purchase will enable me to provide the cause I selected (ChangeEducate) with a potential $1000! How exciting would that be?!
