Those little hands and feet are so quick to hit and kick and step on our hearts… But they also give the biggest hugs and run to reach new goals and heights. The words they use can cut to the bone and make you think you are doing it all wrong. That you are a failure.
But they are also quick to lift others up in prayer… even the ones you’ve overlooked. How innocent and thoughtful those minds can be. How accepting and understanding those little hearts are.
You sound like a broken record of do’s and don’ts and just when you think the volume isn’t working you get louder. Only to find out that when you are silent and your actions start to show them patience, tenderness and affection they begin to hear you. What sweet gifts we have been given. What love our Father must have for us to send us these precious reminders of grace, love, and hope. They won’t be little forever. I’m pretty sure they grow a foot a night in their sleep and it makes me happy and sad all at the same time. Oh how I love them and how I want to (as a dear friend pointed out) relentlessly purse them by giving them my best and undivided attention. So, I’ll spend more time snuggling at nap time, watching movies just because, heading to our special cabin weekend vacations, playing LEGOs on the floor, making finger puppets, taking adventurous walks for secret passages, chasing butterflies, baking, crafting, learning, growing and letting go of schedules.
Because they won’t be little forever and I want to be a part of molding them into BIG!
