True story. Today I was actually made fun of in the checkout line for my turkey selection. “Is that your Thanksgiving?” the guy in the aisle over asked. I had two 3 lb turkey roasts in my right hand and a Starbucks in the other. “Why yes. Yes it is,” I said with confidence. He then held up his 145 pounder and started laughing. “Good luck with that,” were my final words to him. He seemed proud and I was feeling relaxed and plan on remaining that way. Seriously. It made me laugh and kind of made my day. What I really wanted to ask was if he was going to cook up that beast or if someone just sent him to find the biggest bird available.
We learned last year that the traditional whole turkey is just not our favorite. We made a turkey roast in an oven bag and it was so delicious! My grandmother was even impressed which is saying quite a bit. So, this year I decided why fix what is not broken? Besides, it is about a million times easier. We use the leftover juicy meat for sandwiches (although there was none leftover last year). Looking for even more non-traditional Thanksgiving recipes at the last minute? Walmart’s Thanksgiving Mishaps webpage has some delicious ideas you should check out! My favorite is the last one
So, what are you serving up this year? The traditional whole turkey or are you going with something a little less stressful!
