This year has brought a lot of changes for the boys. They are growing in leaps and bounds and discovering new things they love every day. One of those things has been LEGO®s. I’m not exactly sure where the obsession started (although my husband is still a big fan) but both boys enjoy them immensely. Davis enjoys the LEGO® Duplos and Graham has gotten into the more complex sets that involve anything from the City line. This has become a fun thing my husband enjoys sharing with the boys. I try to play with them, but the reality is that I just don’t have the patience (or know how) to put the LEGO®s together with them when they want to. Don’t get me wrong, I am a good sport, but daddy does 20 times better! So, we leave the major LEGO® building for daddy/son time.
What I have found is a way for these LEGO® obsessed boys to enjoy their fascination even when there are no LEGO®s flying around the house and every available plastic bin. The new LEGO YouTube channel has videos for kids that are action packed and fun. The older Graham becomes the more he enjoys movies like these. I created a video playlist to include some of his favorite LEGO® video shorts that bring on the adventure. I really like that the channel has been divided by the different LEGO® categories. Because Graham is such a fan of the City themed LEGOs all of his favorite videos are centered around that theme. Maybe your kids get the LEGO® magazine? If so, they may like The World of Chima channel. I know they have been featuring these characters in the magazine lately. Have super hero fans? Then the Super Hero channel is a great pick for your LEGO® lovers. There are over 500 videos to choose from and they are being added daily.
Creating a video playlist is the best way to go so that the movies play continuously and are in an organized spot when you are in a hurry. I use the playlist on the iPad for times when I need to get dinner cooking without interruption. Add enough videos to your playlist and you may be able to get an entire meal cooked to completion! It has also served me well when I need to get any cleaning done or maybe just take a trip to the bathroom by myself. You know what I am talking about if you are a mom! While I don’t use this as a babysitter (everything in moderation) it really has been a great new video entertainment that shakes things up. If you are confused on how to create the video playlist on YouTube here is an excellent infographic that lays it all out:
So, is your family LEGO® obsessed like ours and have your kids discovered the LEGO® YouTube channel yet? I would love to hear your thoughts.
Thank you to LEGO and Technorati for being sponsors. I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls Collective. All opinions expressed here are my own.

I hate to think how much we spend on LEGOS, but I keep telling myself it is awesome for following directions, manipulating objects, spatial skills, building blocks for math, imagination, etc. We love LEGOS and the new YouTube Channel.
