This year Graham entered third grade. It is such a big year in our state. This is the year of testing and really where the rubber meets the road in terms of academics. This is the year where they start getting actual grades and start to experience what life in school is like. We have been so blessed to have so many great teachers over these past 4 years of his education.
Because I also work in the school system, I realize how hard it is when it comes to budgets. The reality is that we live in the state of NC which is ranked about 2nd lowest in the nation when it comes to teacher pay as well as budgets for the system. It truly is a sad state of affairs when you are trying to do so much with so little. So, it is important to me to try to find small ways to give back to the school that is influencing my son so much and I am thankful for the parents who give back to the school that I work in.
BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION
How we give back to the school could be summed up in so many different ways. However, there is one way we give back that is super simple! If you are familiar with the Box Tops™ program then you know what a great source of income this can be for schools. It really is a win/win scenario because you are already spending money purchasing products you need. All I have to do is clip the Box Top off of the product and send it into the school with Graham. For every Box Top I send in his school earns $.10. Right now, over 80,000 k-8 schools participate in the program, so chances are you can find your school. The best part is that schools can spend the money earned on what they need without all of the strict limitations that some grants offer.
BONUS BOX TOPS
Right now you can find several boxes of participating General Mills® products that have bonus Box Tops included! I wanted to make a fun, peanut-free, cereal snack mix for the boys to have in lunches. I was able to find several of the items I needed with the included 5 Box Tops! All I have to do is clip the Box Top as well as the certificate on the back of the box.
