It is definitely that time of year again. I just noticed the little black line of dread on my kitchen counter! This reminded me of last years mission to locate a way to rid our home of the ants without poisoning my family. Let’s be honest, most of the things you buy in the store to rid your home of ants don’t really work all that well anyway. After trying and failing many times I found one very easy way to rid our kitchen of ants!
All you need is white vinegar. I am convinced that white vinegar can pretty much do anything (that and apple cider vinegar, Bobbie pins and tape).
Just mix a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and water in a spray bottle and then go to town on your kitchen counters and ANYWHERE you’ve seen the ants. The reality is that those pesky critters have scent trails which means they can follow the trails and have their little sugar loving friends follow along as well. Pretty soon you have an ant infestation that seems to happen in a matter of hours. The white vinegar wipes out these scent trails so that the ants stop coming. So, make extra sure you wipe down places you’ve seen ants (even if they are not currently there). Chances are you are going to be without ants in the morning! You can always go with the “better safe than sorry” method and wipe down every nook and cranny of your counters and cabinets. Seriously, it is worth it in the end when the ants are G-O-N-E!
