Homemade Bo-Berry Biscuits Recipe

The boys absolutely adore Bojangle’s Bo-Berry Biscuits.  I’m not exactly sure when this obsession began, but it is a very real one.  So, we generally indulge them every other weekend or so in a special treat.  I can remember loving them when I was just a little girl myself.

So, a few Saturdays ago when I woke up trying to decide what to feed those hungry boys I noticed my batch of fresh blueberries in the fridge and decided to get creative.  The end result turned out pretty well if I do say so myself.  Not to mention, this recipe is super easy and takes no time at all!  Hallelujah for simple!  My husband lovingly refers to these as Faux-Berry Biscuits.

Homemade Bo-Berry Biscuits Recipe

  • 2 cups flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup of oil
  • 2/3 cup of milk
  • 1/4 cup of fresh blueberries
  • Glaze
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/8 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  1. Mix all of the dry ingredients for the biscuits together well.
  2. Mix the oil and milk together and then add to the dry ingredients.
  3. Add the blueberries to the biscuit mix before mixing.
  4. Start mixing until all the ingredients are wet and start to form a ball.
  5. Transfer the biscuit mix to a floured surface and roll out. The mix will be a bit juicy because of the blueberries.
  6. Preheat your oven to 475 degrees.
  7. Use a jar lid or biscuit cutter to cut out the biscuits.
  8. Bake for about 8-10 minutes.
  9. While the biscuits are baking set aside the melted butter and mix together the powdered sugar, water and vanilla.
  10. Once the biscuits are baked transfer to a cooling rack, brush the biscuits with the melted butter and then follow with the glaze. You can brush the glaze on or drizzle using a fork or spoon.
  11. Serve and enjoy!
