Free Printable Advent Calendar Based on The Adventure Storybook Bible

Note: This Free Printable Advent Calendar will work for you even if you do not have The Adventure Storybook Bible.

Every single year I say that I am going to create some sort of advent calendar.  Every year it sneaks up on me and I miss the opportunity.  The thing is, I wanted to create something meaningful that would lead my boys to a place more than just the manager, but point them to Jesus.  My biggest prayer for them is that they will come to know Him and follow Him for their entire lives.  I want them to have a heart for God that is evident in all they say and do.

So, this year I went through Davis’s Storybook Bibles.  He has so many of them.  He has so many that Matthew and I decided that it was time to donate some to our church library.  I really enjoy The Adventure Storybook Bible because it creates a sense of adventure in the follow up questions at the end of each story.  Boys especially thrive on adventure and this Storybook Bible has very clear messages.

Even if you don’t have the Adventure Storybook Bible, I have included the Bible versus that go along with each story so that you can follow along.  The way this advent calendar works is by removing a link each night (starting on December 1st).  You are counting down to Christmas, and reading stories from the Bible together as a family.  My hope is that you will use this as a launching point for deeper discussions.  In order to prompt the discussions I’ve included one word on each star that goes along with each story.

Because Graham can read, our plan is to have Graham read the word for the day and Davis and Graham will take the link off.  We will then read the corresponding Bible story and see where that leads their little hearts.

  1. What a fun idea! I like the prompt words to go with each story. :-) I also just made an advent calendar to go with the kids’ Jesus Storybook Bible that I had seen and pinned last year. I figured since I still wanted to do it this year, I should probably make it :-) http://joyfullyweary.blogspot.com/2011/11/our-advent-calendar.html
