With summer comes fresh fruit and vegetables! This is one of my favorite parts of summer. With our new garden, we will soon have even more fresh fruits and vegetables. Even if you are buying organic produce you still need to make sure you are washing your produce well. If you are like me, you buy organic on things from the dirty dozen list only to save money. Because of this, I like to know that my fruits and veggies are CLEAN! Here is an easy solution to getting them as clean as possible and you can do it at home for pennies! The best news is that it is all natural utilizing the natural disinfectant properties of lemon juice and white vinegar.
What You Will Need:
1 Tablespoon of real lemon juice (I use a real lemon and squeeze it)
2 Tablespoons White Vinegar
1 Cup of Water
Spray Bottle
Preparation:
Mix together the lemon juice, white vinegar, and water in the spray bottle. Give it a few swirls to make sure it is mixed well. I use a 32 oz spray bottle and triple the recipe for about half a bottle of wash. From one lemon you could probably get about 4-6 tablespoons of juice.
How to Use:
Place your produce on a paper towel or dish towel. Spray generously over the produce. Rinse the produce in the sink and enjoy!
