DIY Loofa Soap Hack

DIY Loofa Soap Hack

If you have little ones in your house then you know that things like soap, shampoo, lotions and toothpaste often go missing and fast.  Now, it is not because they are literally missing, but more because they have been wasted!  I have two little boys which means that the various bottles are often used for things like launching rockets and squirting water all over the shower walls (and floors).  So, I have made the transition to bar soap.  Not only does it help with the waste, but I have figured out a way to make the bar last a bit longer as well.

Welcome to my sweet little loofa soap hack!  This is so simple and so, so cheap.  Not only will it help you keep your soap a little longer, but it is easier for little hands to use.  Those bar soaps can be slippery little boogers!  The last thing I need is a boy falling in the shower trying to dive after slippery soap.  So, I decided to combine two of the things in their shower and create a little less hassle and save a little money at the same time.

DIY Loofa Soap Hack

I use the mildest form of soap possible for them because, even though the are 6 and almost 10, they have a tendency towards sensitive skin.  And truly, why expose them to more than necessary.  There are so many complicated things in life, soap shouldn’t be one of those.  I like to use the Johnson’s® Baby Bar because it smells great, works well for sensitive skin and is super soft.  On top of all of this, you can grab it for under $2 bucks on the Walmart baby aisle.  Besides, it brings back sweet memories of those baby baths when they were infants.

Are you ready to make your very own loofa soap holder for your kids?  It is so simple and you’ll be so glad you did!  Here’s How:

What You Need:

  • 1- Johnson’s® Baby Bar
  • 1- Loofa large enough to fit a bar of soap inside or natural sea sponge
  • knife or sharp scissors

Instructions:

  1. First make a small slit just a little bit short of your bar of soap. The slit should be pretty deep, but make sure not to penetrate through the other side.  Depending upon the material of your loofa you can likely stretch the material from here to make the soap fit.DIY Loofa Soap Hack
  2. If you can’t stretch the loofa out completely, place the bar on top and begin to cut around making sure to keep the hole smaller than your bar of soap.DIY Loofa Soap Hack
  3. Slip your bar of soap inside the loofa and pull the sponge around it to make sure it is secure.  If using a natural sponge you can use the same method or even use the soap for a handle and the sponge for a top.  The boys love this as well because they think it looks “cool”.

Once you have your loofa soap created place it in the shower for your next use.  All your kiddo has to do is get the loofa wet and scrub a dub dub!  I have found this is also a great way to keep the dry skin at bay for the boys.  It is sort of a fun way to get them to gently exfoliate.

What are your go to hacks when it comes to keeping your little ones clean and helping them learn to waste less?
I have been compensated by Johnson’s® Baby for this post; however, I am sharing my own thoughts. All opinions are my own.

That is so smart! I’m always battling finding enough room for my soap and my loofa. I can’t wait to do this.

I need to show this to my wife. She has three different loofas and at least 6 soaps. I can see her doing this.

That is one awesome space saving hack. I have a loofa and it always takes up so much space. I think this is worth giving a try.

This is a great hack. It will make holding the soap so much easier for kids. Soap can get slippery fast.

Why didn’t I think of this? I struggle with finding a place to put my loofa since we don’t have so much space.
