Do you guys have any Easter traditions that revolve around food? The only “real” tradition we have with food is to eat lots of chocolate from the Easter basket! Seriously. Ok, so maybe we also get together with family and have a small lunch. Other than that, bring on the chocolate bunny!
Something I have not shared with you guys is that I recently purchased a bread machine. The purchase was inspired by Amy and I will share with you all more on how it has really improved our lives. That’s a whole other post. So, if you have a bread machine or maybe even if you don’t, here is an absolutely delicious Berry Hot Cross Bun recipe. Traditionally Hot Cross Buns are served on Good Friday, but I think they are good any ‘ol time! These are great for a breakfast, snack, dessert or even on the table for dinner.

I’m not sure what I did wrong, but when the dough cycle was done, all I had was crumble. VERY dry. I went over the directions and ingredients twice before putting it together. Brand new yeast bought today. All ingredients measured exact. It’s almost as tho water is missing from the ingredient list… ?
Felicia says
You are absolutely right! I forgot to list the water! You will need at least 1/3 cup. I measured the 2 eggs into a 2 cup measuring cup and added enough water to make it 1 1/3 cups, but most eggs are about half a cup depending upon size. I’m so sorry! I’m on the road but will edit this as soon as I get back. Thank you for commenting.

Thanks for the reply. 🙂
I ended up adding another packet of yeast, using the old fashioned water/sugar in a bowl to make sure it was live. I kneaded that in with a bit more flour, and it ended up rising nicely. They are a little heavy but have nice flavor. I look forward to trying it again one day.
Tracy says
Btw…. You said two eggs in your reply, but it says 3 eggs in the recipe. Please clarify that as well. Thanks.
Felicia says
Yes.. another mis-type! You will use only 2 eggs and fill with water until you reach 1 1/3 cups total. That will likely make it less heavy. I did use 3 in mine originally however (the picture above was with 3 eggs). It was a thicker bread. So, either way should work just depending upon how fluffy you want it.
Thank you so much Tracy!
