We are in the home stretch for back to school and I have been coming up with many different ideas on how to organize so that we stay on top of school work as well as fun ideas for helping Graham at home. Working in the school system, I realize that it is not enough to rely upon the school alone to teach my child. It is up to us as a family to make sure Graham is continually learning and growing, not his teachers.
So, when we were sent the Fellowes Saturn2 95 Laminator for review from Mom Central we were so excited about the different possibilities! I’ve been using this thing like crazy and loving every minute of it. I was worried about how safe it would be to use this around the kids, but with the HeatGuard Technology little fingers are safe from being burned. It has a double walled insulation so that the heat is inside the laminator. The laminated project even comes out warm, but not hot. You can also choose between a hot or cold laminating in order to create the perfect results. Paper jam? No worries! There’s a release lever so that you can remove your project quickly. It is also quick and easy to use. Just put your paper inside the laminator pocket, place the sealed in in the laminator and watch it go!
So, here are a few projects we’ve created so far!
Reusable Handwriting Sheets
Graham’s biggest battle has been fine motor skills. We like to practice letters and writing at least once a day so that he can learn to write more clearly. He is really getting good at it and enjoying it so much more! So, I found this awesome website where you can create many different styles of handwriting practice pages and customize them with words of choice as well as type out your child’s name. It is called HandWritingWorksheets.com and is a great resource for elementary school aged kids. I created the worksheet and then used the Fellowes Saturn2 95 Laminator to create a reusable writing surface. We just use dry erase markers and a paper towel to erase. Graham can use this same piece of paper over and over again in order to practice writing his name.
Masterpiece Saver
Graham has so many adorable creations from preschool and I know that is about to double with him heading to Kindergarten! I have decided to create a hanging shelf with paper clips in order to display some of my favorites. I just laminate and hang so that they are safe for years to come! The clothes pin method makes it quick and easy for me to change them out. I simply file them away so that we can reflect on his progress in a few months.
Placemat Maker
I can also take some of those art pieces and turn them into fun placemats! We have also been known to find a favorite picture from a magazine and laminate it in order to create a fun placemat. Not only does it protect the table, but it creates a fun writing space for when they are waiting on dinner. Another thought is to create your own travel placemats for fun dining on the go!
