My first experience with the Boys and Girls Club of America happened when I was a junior in college. I worked hard to pay for all of my college education with minimal student loans. Most of my undergraduate degree was paid for by me working around the clock! My junior year I decided to do a work program that involved helping out at our local BGCA. I had no idea what to expect when I first started, but I left with many memories and was introduced to some fantastic families I may have otherwise never met.
If you are not familiar with the BGCA they provide opportunities for kids during the summer as well as after school. There are so many programs that help kids become inspired, educated and build leaders. It was so much fun to see those sweet little faces after school every day. We even decided to hold a free cheerleading clinic where kids from around the community came to learn from high schoolers. It was so great to see everyone working together.
How You Can Help
The spirit of the Boys and Girls Club of America is to help. That is why I wanted to share with you all how they are helping parents and how we can give back. BCGA and Disney have partnered together in order to provide the Tools for Back to School Initiative. You can log on and take a quiz where every correct answer you have donates school supplies to the BGCA! Still purchasing back to school clothes? Shop at JC Penney this month and round up your purchase in order to give back to the BGCA.
Free Material For Back To School Prep
The Boys and Girls Club of America also wants to make sure your child has what they need in order to be ready for back to school. Download and print out handy tips for: time management, college, hints for parents, setting goals, and being prepared! You can find these handy print outs at the Boys and Girls Club of America webpage. I know that we will probably be taking advantage of the time management tips as this is Graham’s very first year of school. It has already proven to be crazy, but fun!
I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Boys and Girls Club. I received a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.
