A Bunny Birthday Party & Easy Bunny Cupcakes

September 9, 2013 by Felicia

A few weeks ago when I asked Davis what kind of birthday party he wanted to have I was expecting something that involved wheels or noise.  Instead, he said he wanted a “bunny birthday”.  I asked him again and got the same answer!  Luckily, so many of my friends had great ideas on what to do and it turned out to be a really cute idea for a 3 year old.

To make things simple, I decided to go with the Annie’s snacks (because they are bunny shaped).  Davis loves the snack mix and the fruit snacks.  Turns out, so did the rest of the people who came since we were pretty much wiped out!  Davis also told me that he wanted bunny cupcakes.  So, here is what I came up with.  It was easy because we went semi-homemade!

I ordered chocolate cupcakes with plain white frosting from our local grocery store.  I borrowed a bunny-head shaped cookie cutter from a friend and used store bought sugar cookie dough mix.  Before I baked the cookies I cut the dough so that I had only ears.  I used white frosting and pink gel frosting for the ears.  Because the store iced the cupcakes so well, all I had to do was push the ears down into the frosting.  I used some pink decorating candy for the nose, black gel frosting for the eyes and chocolate dipped thin spaghetti for the whiskers.

The bunny ears and other free printables were found at the Rosemary Wells website (Max & Ruby).  Overall, it turned out well and I had one very happy 3 year old!

That’s so sweet that he picked to have a bunny party!

Isaak likes to play boy things, but it through me when I asked what he plays at recess? He plays kitties with a girl there.

Bunny themed birthdays are really cute, and was a great choice. Loved the bunny crown, but the bunny ear chocolate cupcakes looked so scrumptious, plus the whiskers…what a treat. Great pics!
